22:1 LAI TB, Kemudian berangkatlah orang Israel, dan berkemah di dataran Moab, di daerah seberang sungai Yordan dekat Yerikho.
KJV, And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho.

וַיִּסְעוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיַּחֲנוּ בְּעַרְבֹות מֹואָב מֵעֵבֶר לְיַרְדֵּן יְרֵחֹו׃ ס
Translit, VAYISU BENEY YISRAEL VAYAKHANU BE’AR’VOT MO’AV ME’EVER LEYAR’DEN YEREKHO

22:2 LAI TB, Balak bin Zipor melihat segala yang dilakukan Israel kepada orang Amori.
KJV, And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.

וַיַּרְא בָּלָק בֶּן־צִפֹּור אֵת כָּל־אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂה יִשְׂרָאֵל לָאֱמֹרִי׃
Translit, VAYAR BALAK BEN-TSIPOR ‘ET KOL-‘ASYER-‘ASAH YISRA’EL LA’EMORI

22:3 LAI TB, Maka sangat gentarlah orang Moab terhadap bangsa itu, karena jumlahnya banyak, lalu muak dan takutlah orang Moab karena orang Israel.
KJV, And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel.

וַיָּגָר מֹואָב מִפְּנֵי הָעָם מְאֹד כִּי רַב־הוּא וַיָּקָץ מֹואָב מִפְּנֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃
Translit, VAYAGAR MO’AV MIPNEY HA’AM ME’OD KI RAV-HU VAYAQATS MO’AV MIPNEY BENEY YISRA’EL

22:4 LAI TB, Lalu berkatalah orang Moab kepada para tua-tua Midian: “Tentu saja laskar besar itu akan membabat habis segala sesuatu yang di sekeliling kita, seperti lembu membabat habis tumbuh-tumbuhan hijau di padang.” Adapun pada waktu itu Balak bin Zipor menjadi raja Moab.
KJV, And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time.

וַיֹּאמֶר מֹואָב אֶל־זִקְנֵי מִדְיָן עַתָּה יְלַחֲכוּ הַקָּהָל אֶת־כָּל־סְבִיבֹתֵינוּ כִּלְחֹךְ הַשֹּׁור אֵת יֶרֶק הַשָּׂדֶה וּבָלָק בֶּן־צִפֹּור מֶלֶךְ לְמֹואָב בָּעֵת הַהִוא׃

22:5 LAI TB, Raja ini mengirim utusan kepada Bileam bin Beor, ke Petor yang di tepi sungai Efrat, ke negeri teman-teman sebangsanya, untuk memanggil dia, dengan pesan: “Ketahuilah, ada suatu bangsa keluar dari Mesir; sungguh, sampai tertutup permukaan bumi olehnya, dan mereka sedang berkemah di depanku.
KJV, He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me:

וַיִּשְׁלַח מַלְאָכִים אֶל־בִּלְעָם בֶּן־בְּעֹור פְּתֹורָה אֲשֶׁר עַל־הַנָּהָר אֶרֶץ בְּנֵי־עַמֹּו לִקְרֹא־לֹו לֵאמֹר הִנֵּה עַם יָצָא מִמִּצְרַיִם הִנֵּה כִסָּה אֶת־עֵין הָאָרֶץ וְהוּא יֹשֵׁב מִמֻּלִי׃
Translit, VAYISYLAKH MALAKHIM ‘EL-BIL’AM BEN-BE’OR PETORAH ‘ASYER ‘AL-HANAHAR ‘ERETS BENEY-‘AMO LIQRO-LO LEMOR HINEH ‘AM YATSA MIMITSRAYIM HINEH KHISAH ‘ET-‘EIN HA’ARETS VEHU YOSHEV MIMULI

22:6 LAI TB, Karena itu, datanglah dan kutuk bangsa itu bagiku, sebab mereka lebih kuat dari padaku; mungkin aku sanggup mengalahkannya dan menghalaunya dari negeri ini, sebab aku tahu: siapa yang kauberkati, dia beroleh berkat, dan siapa yang kaukutuk, dia kena kutuk.”
KJV, Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.

וְעַתָּה לְכָה־נָּא אָרָה־לִּי אֶת־הָעָם הַזֶּה כִּי־עָצוּם הוּא מִמֶּנִּי אוּלַי אוּכַל נַכֶּה־בֹּו וַאֲגָרְשֶׁנּוּ מִן־הָאָרֶץ כִּי יָדַעְתִּי אֵת אֲשֶׁר־תְּבָרֵךְ מְבֹרָךְ וַאֲשֶׁר תָּאֹר יוּאָר׃

22:7 LAI TB, Lalu berangkatlah para tua-tua Moab dan para tua-tua Midian dengan membawa di tangannya upah penenung; setelah mereka sampai kepada Bileam, disampaikanlah kepadanya pesan Balak.
KJV, And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak.

וַיֵּלְכוּ זִקְנֵי מֹואָב וְזִקְנֵי מִדְיָן וּקְסָמִים בְּיָדָם וַיָּבֹאוּ אֶל־בִּלְעָם וַיְדַבְּרוּ אֵלָיו דִּבְרֵי בָלָק׃
Translit, VAYELKHU ZIQNEY MO’AV VEZIQNEY MIDYAN UQSAMIM BEYADAM VAYAVOU ‘EL-BILAM VAYEDABRU ‘ELAV DIVREY VALAQ

22:8 LAI TB, Lalu berkatalah Bileam kepada mereka: “Bermalamlah di sini pada malam ini, maka aku akan memberi jawab kepadamu, sesuai dengan apa yang akan difirmankan TUHAN kepadaku.” Maka tinggallah pemuka-pemuka Moab itu pada Bileam.
KJV, And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.

וַיֹּאמֶר אֲלֵיהֶם לִינוּ פֹה הַלַּיְלָה וַהֲשִׁבֹתִי אֶתְכֶם דָּבָר כַּאֲשֶׁר יְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֵלָי וַיֵּשְׁבוּ שָׂרֵי־מֹואָב עִם־בִּלְעָם׃

22:9 LAI TB, Kemudian datanglah Allah kepada Bileam serta berfirman: “Siapakah orang-orang yang bersama-sama dengan engkau itu?”
KJV, And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?

וַיָּבֹא אֱלֹהִים אֶל־בִּלְעָם וַיֹּאמֶר מִי הָאֲנָשִׁים הָאֵלֶּה עִמָּךְ׃
Translit, VAYAVO ‘ELOHIM ‘EL-BIL’AM VAYOMER MI HA’ANASYIM HA’ELEH ‘IMAKH

22:10 LAI TB, Dan berkatalah Bileam kepada Allah: “Balak bin Zipor, raja Moab, mengutus orang kepadaku dengan pesan:
KJV, And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me, saying,

וַיֹּאמֶר בִּלְעָם אֶל־הָאֱלֹהִים בָּלָק בֶּן־צִפֹּר מֶלֶךְ מֹואָב שָׁלַח אֵלָי׃
Translit, VAYOMER BIL’AM ‘EL-HA’ELOHIM BALAQ BEN-TSIPOR MELEKH MO’AV SYALAKH ‘ELAY

22:11 LAI TB, Ketahuilah, ada bangsa yang keluar dari Mesir, dan permukaan bumi tertutup olehnya; karena itu, datanglah, serapahlah mereka bagiku, mungkin aku akan sanggup berperang melawan mereka dan menghalau mereka.”
KJV, Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.

הִנֵּה הָעָם הַיֹּצֵא מִמִּצְרַיִם וַיְכַס אֶת־עֵין הָאָרֶץ עַתָּה לְכָה קָבָה־לִּי אֹתֹו אוּלַי אוּכַל לְהִלָּחֶם בֹּו וְגֵרַשְׁתִּיו׃

22:12 LAI TB, Lalu berfirmanlah Allah kepada Bileam: “Janganlah engkau pergi bersama-sama dengan mereka, janganlah engkau mengutuk bangsa itu, sebab mereka telah diberkati.”
KJV, And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.

וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים אֶל־בִּלְעָם לֹא תֵלֵךְ עִמָּהֶם לֹא תָאֹר אֶת־הָעָם כִּי בָרוּךְ הוּא׃

22:13 LAI TB, Bangunlah Bileam pada waktu pagi, lalu berkata kepada pemuka-pemuka Balak: “Pulanglah ke negerimu, sebab TUHAN tidak mengizinkan aku pergi bersama-sama dengan kamu.”
KJV, And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go with you.

וַיָּקָם בִּלְעָם בַּבֹּקֶר וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־שָׂרֵי בָלָק לְכוּ אֶל־אַרְצְכֶם כִּי מֵאֵן יְהוָה לְתִתִּי לַהֲלֹךְ עִמָּכֶם׃

22:14 LAI TB, Lalu berangkatlah pemuka-pemuka Moab itu dan setelah mereka sampai kepada Balak, berkatalah mereka: “Bileam menolak datang bersama-sama dengan kami.”
KJV, And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with us.

וַיָּקוּמוּ שָׂרֵי מֹואָב וַיָּבֹאוּ אֶל־בָּלָק וַיֹּאמְרוּ מֵאֵן בִּלְעָם הֲלֹךְ עִמָּנוּ׃
Translit, VAYAQUMU SAREY MO’AV VAYAVOU ‘EL-BALAQ VAYOMRU ME’EN BIL’AM HALOKH ‘IMANU

22:15 LAI TB, Tetapi Balak mengutus pula pemuka-pemuka lebih banyak dan lebih terhormat dari yang pertama.
KJV, And Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honourable than they.

וַיֹּסֶף עֹוד בָּלָק שְׁלֹחַ שָׂרִים רַבִּים וְנִכְבָּדִים מֵאֵלֶּה׃

22:16 LAI TB, Setelah mereka sampai kepada Bileam, berkatalah mereka kepadanya: “Beginilah kata Balak bin Zipor: Janganlah biarkan dirimu terhalang-halang untuk datang kepadaku,
KJV, And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me:

וַיָּבֹאוּ אֶל־בִּלְעָם וַיֹּאמְרוּ לֹו כֹּה אָמַר בָּלָק בֶּן־צִפֹּור אַל־נָא תִמָּנַע מֵהֲלֹךְ אֵלָי׃
Translit, VAYAVOU ‘EL-BIL’AM VAYOMRU LO QOH ‘AMAR BALAQ BEN-TSIPOR ‘AL-NA TIMANA MEHALOKH ‘ELAY

22:17 LAI TB, sebab aku akan memberi upahmu sangat banyak, dan apapun yang kauminta dari padaku, aku akan mengabulkannya. Datanglah, dan serapahlah bangsa itu bagiku.”
KJV, For I will promote thee unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.

כִּי־כַבֵּד אֲכַבֶּדְךָ מְאֹד וְכֹל אֲשֶׁר־תֹּאמַר אֵלַי אֶעֱשֶׂה וּלְכָה־נָּא קָבָה־לִּי אֵת הָעָם הַזֶּה׃
Translit, KI-KHABED ‘AKHABEDKHA ME’OD VEKHOL ‘ASYER-TOMAR ‘ELAY ‘E’ESEH ULEKHAH-NA QAVAH-LI ‘ET HA’AM HAZEH

22:18 LAI TB, Tetapi Bileam menjawab kepada pegawai-pegawai Balak: “Sekalipun Balak memberikan kepadaku emas dan perak seistana penuh, aku tidak akan sanggup berbuat sesuatu, yang kecil atau yang besar, yang melanggar titah TUHAN, Allahku.
KJV, And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more.

וַיַּעַן בִּלְעָם וַיֹּאמֶר אֶל־עַבְדֵי בָלָק אִם־יִתֶּן־לִי בָלָק מְלֹא בֵיתֹו כֶּסֶף וְזָהָב לֹא אוּכַל לַעֲבֹר אֶת־פִּי יְהוָה אֱלֹהָי לַעֲשֹׂות קְטַנָּה אֹו גְדֹולָה׃

22:19 LAI TB, Oleh sebab itu, baiklah kamupun tinggal di sini pada malam ini, supaya aku tahu, apakah pula yang akan difirmankan TUHAN kepadaku.”
KJV, Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more.

וְעַתָּה שְׁבוּ נָא בָזֶה גַּם־אַתֶּם הַלָּיְלָה וְאֵדְעָה מַה־יֹּסֵף יְהוָה דַּבֵּר עִמִּי׃
Translit, VE’ATAH SYEVU NA VAZEH GAM-‘ATEM HALAILAH VE’EDAH MAH-YOSEF YEHOVAH (dibaca: ‘Adonay) DABER ‘IMI

22:20 LAI TB, Datanglah Allah kepada Bileam pada waktu malam serta berfirman kepadanya: “Jikalau orang-orang itu memang sudah datang untuk memanggil engkau, bangunlah, pergilah bersama-sama dengan mereka, tetapi hanya apa yang akan Kufirmankan kepadamu harus kaulakukan.”
KJV, And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.
Hebrew,
וַיָּבֹא אֱלֹהִים ׀ אֶל־בִּלְעָם לַיְלָה וַיֹּאמֶר לֹו אִם־לִקְרֹא לְךָ בָּאוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים קוּם לֵךְ אִתָּם וְאַךְ אֶת־הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר־אֲדַבֵּר אֵלֶיךָ אֹתֹו תַעֲשֶׂה׃

22:21 LAI TB, Lalu bangunlah Bileam pada waktu pagi, dipelanainyalah keledainya yang betina, dan pergi bersama-sama dengan pemuka-pemuka Moab.
KJV, And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.

וַיָּקָם בִּלְעָם בַּבֹּקֶר וַיַּחֲבֹשׁ אֶת־אֲתֹנֹו וַיֵּלֶךְ עִם־שָׂרֵי מֹואָב׃
Translit, VAYAQAM BIL’AM BABOQER VAYAKHAVOSY ‘ET-‘ATONO VAYELEKH ‘IM-SAREY MO’AV

22:22 LAI TB, Tetapi bangkitlah murka Allah ketika ia pergi, dan berdirilah Malaikat TUHAN di jalan sebagai lawannya. Bileam mengendarai keledainya yang betina dan dua orang bujangnya ada bersama-sama dengan dia.
KJV, And God’s anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.

וַיִּחַר־אַף אֱלֹהִים כִּי־הֹולֵךְ הוּא וַיִּתְיַצֵּב מַלְאַךְ יְהוָה בַּדֶּרֶךְ לְשָׂטָן לֹו וְהוּא רֹכֵב עַל־אֲתֹנֹו וּשְׁנֵי נְעָרָיו עִמֹּו׃
Translit, VAYIKHAR-‘AF ‘ELOHIM KI-HOLEKH HU VAYITYATSEV MALAKH YEHOVAH (dibaca: ‘Adonay) BADEREKH LESATAN LO VEHU ROKHEV ‘AL-‘ATONO USYENEY NE’ARAV ‘IMO

22:23 LAI TB, Ketika keledai itu melihat Malaikat TUHAN berdiri di jalan, dengan pedang terhunus di tangan-Nya, menyimpanglah keledai itu dari jalan dan masuk ke ladang. Maka Bileam memukul keledai itu untuk memalingkannya kembali ke jalan.
KJV, And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.

וַתֵּרֶא הָאָתֹון אֶת־מַלְאַךְ יְהוָה נִצָּב בַּדֶּרֶךְ וְחַרְבֹּו שְׁלוּפָה בְּיָדֹו וַתֵּט הָאָתֹון מִן־הַדֶּרֶךְ וַתֵּלֶךְ בַּשָּׂדֶה וַיַּךְ בִּלְעָם אֶת־הָאָתֹון לְהַטֹּתָהּ הַדָּרֶךְ׃

22:24 LAI TB, Kemudian pergilah Malaikat TUHAN berdiri pada jalan yang sempit di antara kebun-kebun anggur dengan tembok sebelah-menyebelah.
KJV, But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.
Hebrew,
וַיַּעֲמֹד מַלְאַךְ יְהוָה בְּמִשְׁעֹול הַכְּרָמִים גָּדֵר מִזֶּה וְגָדֵר מִזֶּה׃
Translit, VAYA’AMOD MALAKH YEHOVAH (dibaca: ‘Adonay) BEMISYOL HAKERAMIM GADER MIZEH VEGADER MIZEH

22:25 LAI TB, Ketika keledai itu melihat Malaikat TUHAN, ditekankannyalah dirinya kepada tembok, sehingga kaki Bileam terhimpit kepada tembok. Maka ia memukulnya pula.
KJV, And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall: and he smote her again.

וַתֵּרֶא הָאָתֹון אֶת־מַלְאַךְ יְהוָה וַתִּלָּחֵץ אֶל־הַקִּיר וַתִּלְחַץ אֶת־רֶגֶל בִּלְעָם אֶל־הַקִּיר וַיֹּסֶף לְהַכֹּתָהּ׃
Translit, VATERE HA’ATON ‘ET-MALAKH YEHOVAH (dibaca: ‘Adonay) VATILAKHETS ‘EL-HAQIR VATILKHATS ‘ET-REGEL BIL’AM ‘EL-HAQIR VAYOSEF LEHAKOTAH

22:26 LAI TB, Berjalanlah pula Malaikat TUHAN terus dan berdirilah Ia pada suatu tempat yang sempit, yang tidak ada jalan untuk menyimpang ke kanan atau ke kiri.
KJV, And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.

וַיֹּוסֶף מַלְאַךְ־יְהוָה עֲבֹור וַיַּעֲמֹד בְּמָקֹום צָר אֲשֶׁר אֵין־דֶּרֶךְ לִנְטֹות יָמִין וּשְׂמֹאול׃
Translit, VAYOSEF MALAKH-YEHOVAH (dibaca: ‘Adonay) ‘AVOR VAYA’AMOD BEMAQOM TSAR ‘ASYER ‘EIN-DEREKH LINTOT YAMIN USEMOVL

22:27 LAI TB, Melihat Malaikat TUHAN meniaraplah keledai itu dengan Bileam masih di atasnya. Maka bangkitlah amarah Bileam, lalu dipukulnyalah keledai itu dengan tongkat.
KJV, And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam’s anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.

22:28 LAI TB, Ketika itu TUHAN membuka mulut keledai itu, sehingga ia berkata kepada Bileam: “Apakah yang kulakukan kepadamu, sampai engkau memukul aku tiga kali?”
KJV, And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?

22:29 LAI TB, Jawab Bileam kepada keledai itu: “Karena engkau mempermain-mainkan aku; seandainya ada pedang di tanganku, tentulah engkau kubunuh sekarang.”
KJV, And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.

וַיֹּאמֶר בִּלְעָם לָאָתֹון כִּי הִתְעַלַּלְתְּ בִּי לוּ יֶשׁ־חֶרֶב בְּיָדִי כִּי עַתָּה הֲרַגְתִּיךְ׃

22:30 LAI TB, Tetapi keledai itu berkata kepada Bileam: “Bukankah aku ini keledaimu yang kautunggangi selama hidupmu sampai sekarang? Pernahkah aku berbuat demikian kepadamu?” Jawabnya: “Tidak.”
KJV, And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay.

22:31 LAI TB, Kemudian TUHAN menyingkapkan mata Bileam; dilihatnyalah Malaikat TUHAN dengan pedang terhunus di tangan-Nya berdiri di jalan, lalu berlututlah ia dan sujud.
KJV, Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.

22:32 LAI TB, Berfirmanlah Malaikat TUHAN kepadanya: “Apakah sebabnya engkau memukul keledaimu sampai tiga kali? Lihat, Aku keluar sebagai lawanmu, sebab jalan ini pada pemandangan-Ku menuju kepada kebinasaan.

22:33 LAI TB, Ketika keledai ini melihat Aku, telah tiga kali ia menyimpang dari hadapan-Ku; jika ia tidak menyimpang dari hadapan-Ku, tentulah engkau yang Kubunuh pada waktu itu juga dan dia Kubiarkan hidup.”
KJV, And the ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and saved her alive.

22:34 LAI TB, Lalu berkatalah Bileam kepada Malaikat TUHAN: “Aku telah berdosa, karena aku tidak mengetahui, bahwa Engkau ini berdiri di jalan menentang aku. Maka sekarang, jika hal itu jahat di mata-Mu, aku mau pulang.”
KJV, And Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again.

22:35 LAI TB, Tetapi Malaikat TUHAN berfirman kepada Bileam: “Pergilah bersama-sama dengan orang-orang itu, tetapi hanyalah perkataan yang akan Kukatakan kepadamu harus kaukatakan.” Sesudah itu pergilah Bileam bersama-sama dengan pemuka-pemuka Balak itu.
KJV, And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

22:36 LAI TB, Ketika Balak mendengar, bahwa Bileam datang, keluarlah ia menyongsong dia sampai ke Kota Moab di perbatasan sungai Arnon, pada ujung perbatasan itu.
KJV, And when Balak heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him unto a city of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, which is in the utmost coast.

22:37 LAI TB, Dan berkatalah Balak kepada Bileam: “Bukankah aku sudah mengutus orang memanggil engkau? Mengapakah engkau tidak hendak datang kepadaku? Sungguhkah tidak sanggup aku memberi upahmu?”
KJV, And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honour?

22:38 LAI TB, Tetapi berkatalah Bileam kepada Balak: “Ini aku sudah datang kepadamu sekarang; tetapi akan mungkinkah aku dapat mengatakan apa-apa? Perkataan yang akan ditaruh Allah ke dalam mulutku, itulah yang akan kukatakan.”
KJV, And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak.

22:39 LAI TB, Lalu pergilah Bileam bersama-sama dengan Balak dan sampailah mereka ke Kiryat-Huzot.
KJV, And Balaam went with Balak, and they came unto Kirjathhuzoth.

וַיֵּלֶךְ בִּלְעָם עִם־בָּלָק וַיָּבֹאוּ קִרְיַת חֻצֹות׃

22:40 LAI TB, Balak mengorbankan beberapa ekor lembu sapi dan kambing domba dan mengirimkan sebagian kepada Bileam dan kepada pemuka-pemuka yang bersama-sama dengan dia.
KJV, And Balak offered oxen and sheep, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes that were with him.

וַיִּזְבַּח בָּלָק בָּקָר וָצֹאן וַיְשַׁלַּח לְבִלְעָם וְלַשָּׂרִים אֲשֶׁר אִתֹּו׃

22:41 LAI TB, Keesokan harinya Balak mengambil Bileam dan membawa dia mendaki bukit Baal. Dari situ dilihatnyalah bagian yang paling ujung dari bangsa Israel.
KJV, And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people.
